Activation and first-time setup matters
There is a practical setup difference between rent and purchase that many people do not think about. Hardware shipped directly from Starlink is already tied to your Starlink account, activated, and online once you complete the initial setup! Hardware purchased from an authorized retailer usually requires a short activation process first.
That activation step is normally straightforward, but it can become a problem if your install location has no other internet source, weak/no cell service, or no reliable access to email for login and verification. If your site is remote, plan for that activation step before you arrive so setup day goes smoothly.
